About PRESTO Vouchers

What is a PRESTO Voucher?

The PRESTO Vouchers Program allows PRESTO, participating transit agencies, and organizations (such as universities, colleges, community service groups, businesses, or other organizations) to issue PRESTO cardholders a unique code. Participating organizations issue PRESTO Voucher codes to PRESTO cardholders based on Program eligibility.

How to use a PRESTO Voucher code

A PRESTO voucher code allows PRESTO, transit agencies, and third parties (such as universities, colleges, companies, community service groups or other organizations) to provide customers with a fare discount, transit pass or other PRESTO products. If you are using a physical PRESTO card, you need to redeem your voucher code online.

If you are using PRESTO in Google Wallet, you need to use the PRESTO app to redeem your voucher code.

Once you’ve received your PRESTO voucher code, follow the steps below to redeem online:

  1. Login to your PRESTO Account online

  2. Select “My Cards”

  3. Select “Redeem Voucher”

  4. Once you’ve submitted your PRESTO voucher code online, the PRESTO system requires 4 to 7 hours before your voucher product becomes available for use.

  5. After you’ve waited 4 to 7 hours, tap your PRESTO card on any PRESTO device to add the voucher to your PRESTO card. Be sure to tap your PRESTO card at least once within 30 days after redeeming your voucher.

  6. Your online account information will be updated after you tap your card on a PRESTO device.

*PRESTO Voucher Codes can only be redeemed by customers with a “PRESTO Account”. Click here to create a PRESTO Account.

PRESTO Voucher error

In some circumstances, you may receive an error message when attempting to redeem a voucher. Common issues you may experience in redeeming a PRESTO Voucher include:

The fare type on your card does not match the product being redeemed:

You will be unable to add a voucher that requires a fare type that is different than the fare type set on your PRESTO card. For example, you cannot add a youth transit pass to a PRESTO card that has a senior fare type. The default fare type for all PRESTO cards is an adult fare type. If you do not know what fare type is set on your card, log into your My PRESTO Account and that information will be located on the left-hand side of the screen. If the fare type currently on your card is incorrect and needs to be updated, please visit any PRESTO Customer Service Outlet with valid ID.

The date of birth provided does not match the fare type being added through the voucher:

Please ensure that the date of birth being entered falls within the required age group for the fare type:

  1. Child: 6-12 years

  2. Youth: 13-19 years

  3. Senior: over 65 years

If a fare type that requires a specific age range is applied to a card, it is recommended that you carry a valid government issued ID whenever using your PRESTO Card.

The card currently has a conflicting transit pass from the same transit agency:

You are unable to redeem a voucher containing a transit pass if your PRESTO card already contains a transit pass from the same transit agency over the same time frame. For example, you are unable to redeem a voucher containing a TTC 12 Month Pass if your card already contains a TTC pass for the following month. Please contact your transit agency or the PRESTO Contact Center for more information.

The card has an existing contract which conflicts with the voucher being redeemed:

You are unable to redeem a voucher containing a transit pass if your PRESTO card contains a contract which conflicts with the transit pass. For example, you cannot redeem a voucher containing a TTC monthly pass if your card contains a TTC Transit Pass Autorenew Contract. Please visit the “Autorenew Transit Pass Settings” page for more details.

The voucher has expired or is no longer valid:

Please contact the organization that provided the voucher for further assistance.

The balance on the card would exceed the maximum limit if the voucher value is applied:

The maximum balance that a PRESTO card can hold is $1,000. You are unable to redeem a voucher that will raise your card’s balance over $1,000. You can attempt to redeem the voucher again when the total value will not exceed the maximum card value as long as the voucher is still valid for redemption.

If you experience a problem not identified above when redeeming your PRESTO voucher, please contact the participating transit agency or organization that issued your PRESTO voucher code, or the PRESTO Contact Centre at 1-877-378-6123.
