Have questions about how to load your PRESTO card, setup Autoload and check your card balance? Get the answers to some of our most asked questions here.

You can check your PRESTO card balance in different ways, depending on whether your card is registered to an account or is an anonymous card.

For a registered physical or digital PRESTO card Sign in to your PRESTO account through the website or app to view your card balance, transaction history, and account details.

For an anonymous physical PRESTO card You can check your balance by signing in as a guest on the PRESTO website or appYou will need to enter your PRESTO card number

You can also check your balance at a fare payment device, PRESTO Vending Machine, Customer Service Outlet, or participating retail location

For all digital PRESTO cards You can view your balance directly in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet

You can load funds or transit passes on your PRESTO card in a few different ways:

  • The PRESTO app or website
  • Apple Wallet or Google Wallet (for digital PRESTO cards)If using PRESTO in Apple Wallet, transit passes can only be added through the PRESTO app.
  • Autoload (automatically reload funds) or Autorenew (automatically renew passes)
  • In person at Customer Service Outlets
  • PRESTO Vending Machines
  • PRESTO Virtual Assistant
  • By phone at 1-877-378-6123 (requires a Saved Payment Method)

You can buy a transit pass when it becomes available for the transit agency you’re travelling withPass availability and start dates may vary by transit agency and pass type.

For example, Brampton Monthly Passes are available for the current month until the 14th day of the monthPasses for the next month are available as early as 14 days before the end of the current month.

For weekly passes, they are available for purchase each Wednesday prior to the start of the week, until the following Tuesday

Autoload automatically adds funds to your PRESTO card when your balance falls below the minimum you setSetting up Autoload means you always have enough funds to travel.

How to Set Up Autoload:

  • Make sure your PRESTO card is registered to your PRESTO account.
  • Sign in to your PRESTO account on the PRESTO app or website.
  • On the PRESTO website, select Autoload in the left-hand navigation menu and choose your card.
  • Or, on the PRESTO App, select your card and tap Set up Autoload.
  • Choose your minimum balance and follow the prompts to complete setup.

Autorenew automatically reloads your monthly transit pass on your PRESTO cardSetting up Autorenew means your pass is automatically loaded at the start of each pass period

How to Set Up Autorenew:

  • Make sure your PRESTO card) is registered to your PRESTO account.
  • Sign in to your PRESTO account on the PRESTO app or website.
  • On the PRESTO website, select Add Transit Passes in the left-hand navigation menu, choose your transit agency, select the transit pass, and check the box that says “Add Autorenew to this transit pass.”
  • Or, on the PRESTO app, select your card, tap Set up Autorenew, choose your transit agency and transit pass, and follow the prompts to complete setup

Autoload and Autorenew agreements are automatically cancelled when PRESTO cannot process the payment associated with the agreementThis most commonly occurs when the saved payment method has expired, been replaced, or is no longer valid.

If this happens, you'll need to set up the agreement again through your PRESTO account.

If you believe your agreement was cancelled in error, please contact PRESTO through the Virtual Assistant or Contact Centre.

If your payment method is expired or about to expire and is linked to an Autoload or Autorenew agreement, you can update your payment method through the PRESTO website or app.

Follow these steps:

1Sign in to your PRESTO account on the website or app. 2Select Autoload or Add Transit Passes. 3Select Update. 4On the page showing your expired or soon-to-expire card, select Add New Card.

PRESTO does not currently support updating the expiry date for an existing payment cardYou will need to add your new credit card as a new saved payment method through the Autoload/Autorenew settings.

You can also remove your expired card through the Saved Payment Methods option found in the menu.

Your bank may place a temporary pre-authorization hold when you attempt a transaction, even if the load fails.

The pending charge is usually released automatically within 7–10 business days.
