If you added a PRESTO card to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and are thinking, “What now?” – we’ve got you covered. You might already be used to the real-time updates that come with PRESTO in Mobile Wallet, but check out these tips and tricks for smoother tapping and easier travel.
Tapping Tips
Want worry-free tapping? Here are some great features and quick fixes that can help get you moving:
•
Check your NFC location: Some phones have the NFC antenna located near the top or bottom of the device, so it may help to check your phone’s user guide.
•
Express Transit in Apple Wallet: If you have a PRESTO card and other payment cards in your Apple Wallet, you can turn on ‘Express Transit’ for your PRESTO card. That means when you tap to take transit, the PRESTO device will read your PRESTO card automatically. No need to wake your iPhone up at all.
•
Tap even if your iPhone battery is dead: Did you know? If you’ve turned on Express Transit for your PRESTO card, you can still tap your iPhone to pay your fare for a few hours after it runs out of battery. This feature makes it easier to keep moving, worry-free.
•
Check your phone case: Thicker phone cases might make it harder for PRESTO devices to read your digital PRESTO card. Also make sure you aren’t storing other payment cards in your phone case because they might cause an error when you tap.
•
‘Multiple Cards Detected’ errors: If you see ‘Multiple Cards Detected’ when you tap, try these quick fixes:
– Step back and try again – Move your phone away from the reader for a few seconds, then hold it steady and close to the reader.
– Select PRESTO in Google Wallet – If you’re using a PRESTO card in Google Wallet, you might need to open your Google Wallet app and go directly to your PRESTO card before tapping.
Register your PRESTO card in Mobile WalletWhen you register your PRESTO card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, you’ll be able to use features like balance protection, Autoload and Autorenew, and see more of your transaction history.
Stay Connected with NotificationsWith the PRESTO app, staying informed has never been easier. You can set up low balance alerts to make sure you load before you ride, pass expiry reminders to renew on time, and travel notifications to stay updated on the go – all for your PRESTO card in Mobile Wallet.
Setting up Fare TypesTransit agencies offer discounted fares for eligible customers including youth, post-secondary students, and seniors. Some transit agencies offer fare types that only work for that agency. With PRESTO in Mobile Wallet, you can set up a fare type that will work on all PRESTO transit agencies, as well as transit agency-specific fare types on the same card. Learn more about
Fare Types and how to set them up. Child fare types are not available with PRESTO in Mobile Wallet.
