Local transit agencies, including MiWay, Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) and Durham Region Transit (DRT), work with PRESTO to provide specialized student programs to the following institutions:
McMaster University

GO Transit and UP Express offer a 40% discount to full time Post Secondary students who attend one of the following institutions (click here for list)

Just before you board each trip, open the PRESTO E-Tickets App, select the U-Pass, and then select “Activate.” Your E-Ticket will be activated right awayOnce you board, scan the ticket’s QR code on a PRESTO device using the barcode reader.

If you do not have a mobile device that supports the E-Ticket U-Pass, you may be eligible for an alternative product that can be loaded onto a PRESTO card

The maximum balance allowed on a PRESTO card is $1,000You won’t be able to load funds through a PRESTO Voucher if adding the voucher amount would bring your PRESTO card balance over $1,000Try redeeming the voucher once your PRESTO card balance is lower and your voucher won’t bring the balance over $1,000
Your voucher may also be expired or no longer validFor more information, contact the organization that sent you the PRESTO Voucher

If you already have a transit pass on your PRESTO card that is valid for the same time frame as the one you want to add with a PRESTO Voucher, you won’t be able to redeem the voucherFor example, you can’t redeem a voucher for a TTC 12 Month Pass if you already have a TTC pass on your PRESTO card for the following month.
You also can’t add a transit pass through a PRESTO Voucher if you have an Autorenew contract set up on your PRESTO card to automatically load transit passes for the same transit agencyPlease visit the Autorenew Transit Pass Settings page for more details about your Autorenew contract
The fare type that is set on your PRESTO card also needs to match the product being loadedFor example, you cannot add a Youth transit pass to a PRESTO card that is set with a Senior fare typeYou can check your card’s fare type through the PRESTO app or website by logging into your account and checking your card detailsPlease visit the PRESTO fare types page for more information on how to set a new fare type
